What devices are compatible with Chatable AI?
Chatable AI requires iOS 18.0 or later. It is compatible with iPhone models that support iOS 18, including iPhone XS and newer. The app utilizes Apple's on-device AI capabilities, which require the latest system features for optimal performance.
Does the app work offline?
Yes! Chatable AI is designed to work completely offline. All speech recognition and translation processing happens on your device using Apple's on-device AI frameworks. No internet connection is required for the core translation features. However, some language models may need to be downloaded initially.
How many languages are supported?
Chatable AI supports 19 languages: Arabic, German, English, Spanish, French, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Vietnamese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. We're continuously working to add more languages.
How does the split-screen feature work?
The split-screen design divides your phone screen into two halves. The top half is rotated 180° and shows the translation in your conversation partner's language, making it easy for them to read directly. The bottom half shows your language and is oriented normally for you. This eliminates the need to pass your phone back and forth during conversations.
Is my conversation data private?
Absolutely. Your privacy is our top priority. All speech recognition and translation processing happens entirely on your device. No audio recordings or conversation content is ever uploaded to external servers. We do not collect, store, or have access to any of your conversations.
What's the difference between Free and Pro versions?
The Free version provides access to basic translation features using Apple's on-device AI. The Pro subscription offers unlimited translations, removes all advertisements, and includes access to cloud-based LLM translation engines for higher quality translations in complex scenarios.
How do I enable microphone permissions?
When you first use Chatable AI, you'll be prompted to grant microphone and speech recognition permissions. If you accidentally denied these permissions, you can enable them by going to Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone, and toggling on Chatable AI. Similarly, enable Speech Recognition under Settings > Privacy & Security > Speech Recognition.
Can I cancel my Pro subscription?
Yes, you can cancel your Pro subscription at any time. Go to Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions on your iPhone, select Chatable AI, and tap "Cancel Subscription." You'll continue to have Pro access until the end of your current billing period.
