Calenshot offers local recognition and optional paid cloud recognition. Local AI processing stays on your device. When you choose cloud recognition and give permission, your selected image or text is sent through Cloudflare to Google Gemini. Cloud processing is not a zero-upload or zero-retention service.

What Calenshot does

Calenshot helps you turn selected photos, screenshots, speech and text into calendar events. You review the results before saving. You do not need a Calenshot account. This policy describes the Calenshot app and its recognition service.

Local recognition and storage

Photo text recognition uses Apple's Vision framework on your device. Supported devices can use Apple Intelligence for local event extraction. Free event extraction uses this local path and does not automatically switch to Gemini.
Source photos, extracted text, event history and preferences can be stored on your device. They are not necessarily deleted when recognition ends. Remove saved items within the app or delete the app to remove its local data. Device backups may retain data according to your Apple settings.
Local AI requires compatible hardware and an available Apple Intelligence model. Availability depends on your system, region and language. You can create events manually when local AI is unavailable.

Optional Google Gemini cloud recognition

Cloud recognition is a Pro feature with usage limits. Before enabling it, the app explains the transfer and asks for your consent. If you choose cloud processing, Calenshot sends the input selected for that request, which can include an image, extracted or entered text, and context such as the current date, time zone and language. This input may contain personal information that you include in it.

The request goes over HTTPS through our Cloudflare-hosted proxy to Google's Gemini API. We do not send your existing calendar database for AI recognition. Recognition results are returned to your device for review. We do not sell these inputs or use them for advertising. Our app has no advertising tracking SDK.

Cloud service providers may process request metadata and retain prompts, responses or security logs under their applicable service terms and settings, including abuse monitoring. We do not promise immediate deletion or zero provider retention. See Google's Gemini API terms, Google's retention documentation and Cloudflare's privacy policy. Processing may occur outside your country or region.

You can turn off cloud processing in Calenshot settings to prevent future Gemini requests. This does not retract requests already processed. Avoid including information you do not want a cloud provider to receive. Contact us if you need help with a data request; information retained by a provider is governed by its applicable retention and deletion rules.

Voice input

Voice input requires microphone and speech recognition permission. Calenshot records temporary audio and uses Apple's Speech framework to transcribe it. Apple speech recognition may use Apple servers depending on device and language support. The app removes its temporary recording after transcription. Review Apple's speech recognition permission notice and privacy information. If you then choose Gemini extraction, the resulting text can be sent as described above.

Your calendar and widgets

With your permission, Calenshot reads or writes events in calendars available through Apple's EventKit framework. Widgets and Live Activities use calendar information to display your schedule. Events saved to an iCloud, Google, Exchange or other connected calendar may synchronize according to that calendar provider and your settings. Removing Calenshot does not delete events already saved in your system calendar; manage those events in Calendar.

Purchases and support

Apple processes monthly and annual subscriptions and the one-time lifetime purchase. Calenshot uses StoreKit to verify access and keeps usage counters on your device. We do not receive your payment card details. Cloud usage remains limited with all Pro options, including lifetime. Manage subscriptions in your Apple account settings.

If you contact support, we receive the information you choose to send, such as your email address and problem description, and use it to respond and resolve the request. Please avoid sending unnecessary sensitive content.

Your controls

Choose local processing and leave cloud recognition disabled.
Revoke camera, microphone, speech or calendar permissions in system Settings.
Review and edit recognition results before saving them.
Delete local history in the app, remove saved calendar events in Calendar, or delete Calenshot.
Contact us about access, correction or deletion requests. Availability of these rights depends on applicable law and the data involved.

Children and changes to this policy

Calenshot is a general productivity app. We do not intentionally seek personal information from children. A parent or guardian should supervise the use of cloud processing and contact us if a child has submitted personal information that needs attention.

We may update this policy as the app or service changes. Updates appear here with a revised date; material changes to cloud processing will be explained in the app where appropriate.
